This summer we decided not to take a big trip. We had discussed staying close, or going somewhere for just a couple of day during Brent's vacation so we could enjoy some time at home together, as well as get a few things done around our house. We finally decided on a 2 day trip to Chicago.
On the drive up we came upon this wind farm. It is amazing how many there were. We were so pleased to see our country working towards a more effecient way to generate energy. It was very neat to see!!
When we arrived in Chicago, we checked in to our hotel, made ourselves comfortable, cleaned up a bit and then headed to Navy Pier. It was about 5 blocks away, so we walked.
There were many things to do and see....
The lake and the city were beautiful to look at.
We just walked and enjoyed the sights and each others' company. The girls held in there pretty well. Only some slight complaints about the walking.
There were so many wonderful spots to grab a picture. I only took my (old) point and shoot, and used my iphone quite a bit. I knew I would have many other items to carry along our journey that I didn't want to lug around my DSLR or worry about it for that matter. I am happy with the pictures we captured.
We caught a show that evening. It was very neat. We had front row seats, which was a little scary at times ;) Pretty amazing and talented acrobats!! Not as neat as a true Cirque de Solei, but a wonderful experience. The girls were impressed!!
During the show, a storm had brewed up. We made a run for it and grabbed a bite to eat at the food court just down the road. Was told I HAD to get some Garret's popcorn....so we did. Delicious!!
We waited for a little while to see if the rain would let up. It was only sprinkling a little bit, but Ally insisted we take a taxi because she had never ridden in one before. So that is what we did!! Hopefully it was everything she expected {grin}!
We arrived back at our hotel around 8:30. There were supposed to be fireworks at the pier at 9 but we decided not to wait around. Knowing we had a big day ahead of us, we just chilled and enjoyed some tv in the hotel room:)
