Chicago Day 2 -- American Girl!!

Our second day in Chicago was all about American Girl!  We had lunch reservations at 11:00 so we went beforehand and enjoyed the store.  Wow, it is amazing.  Brent was even impressed.  The main level was like a museum, set up with the historical dolls and a display of items from their time period.  It was really neat because they had a screen displayed in some way.  For example, in Julie's display, her bedroom window was a screen playing what it would look like in the 70's.  Cars parked, people walking in the neighborhood.  It was amazing.

Both of the girls brought their dolls along, of course, and they got to have their hair done.
Also a neat experience, and we learned what to do and what not to do to their hair.

Here Brent and Ally are waiting.  They had a photographer who took the girls' pictures and put them on the cover of a magazine.  I think they turned out wonderfully!! I'll have to take a picture of them or scan them in.

The escalator is always a hit!  It took us to the second level with dolls, clothes, and the dining room.

Let me just say, this was an amazing lunch.  So sophisticated yet child oriented.  It was really nice.

These were our appetizer.  The menu is pretty set with only a couple of options.  Everything was included in the $$$cost$$$.  You can see the mini bun.  They bring that out first with a story about a little girl and her mom going to the city for a visit and what she remembered most about the day.

Of course, we had to feed the dolls too!!

These are the 'girl of the year' dolls that they had displayed.  These dolls are only available for one year.  Mya has Mia and she just loves her and loved seeing her in the store as well.

After that wonderful experience, we went back to the hotel for a little rest and then headed out again.
We found the Lego Store.  Very fun!!

We enjoyed a nice little swim in the hotel.  The girls loved the hot tub :)

I know this picture is not great, it was super dim light and my iphone, but this place was so interesting.  It's a pizza place called Geno's.  We waited in line for 40 minutes just to get in!!!  Everything inside is graffiti covered, from the tables, booths, and even the blinds and light shades.  It was cool to try and find your name.  By our booth there was a Brent + (some girl's name) and an Amy loves (some guy's name)  The girls thought that was too funny.

Here are the dolls all dressed in the outfits the girls picked for them.  What a very fun vacation!  It was so fun to be together and enjoy Chicago!!
